Australia Immigration has seen an extraordinary increase in the number of Australian PR visa holders over the last few years. Better job opportunities, high-quality life, and a clean environment are some of the common reasons why most people, especially Indians, flock to this nation.
Australia PR Visa:
It is a “permanent resident” visa that is intended solely for persons who are not Australian residents. The method is not only highly systematic and coordinated but also sufficiently advanced to determine applications based on the credentials of an applicant.
Once obtained, for an indefinite period, a PR visa holder may remain in Australia. A five-year travel facility is also granted along with it. The holder will leave Australia and return freely before this travel facility meets its expiry.
Process 1:
Ensure that you meet the criteria for eligibility.
You must score at least 65 points under the Point’s Grid to determine your eligibility for a PR visa. The table below explains the various conditions for scoring points:

Process 2: English proficiency Test
In the English language competency, you must have the appropriate ranking. You should take the specified English language test to do this. Australian immigration authorities approve scores from different assessments of English ability, such as IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, etc. So to get the specified score, you can take either of these tests.
Process 3: choose your occupation from the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
From any of the following lists, you can pick your occupation:
- Short-term Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
- Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL)
- Medium and long-term Strategic Skills List (MTSSL)
Process 4: Expression of Interest
Submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) on Australia’s Skill Select website. In the online application, please take care to include all the details needed.
Process 5: Take your Invitation to Apply (ITA)
You’ll get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for your PR visa if your application meets all the criteria.
Every month, the Australian government holds invitation rounds for PR applicants. Depending on the number of applicants who have applied for the nominated position and the current occupation ceiling and time of year the ITAs vary.
The number of invitations can also differ depending on the number of applications processed in that month by the immigration department.
Invitation process and cut-offs
Applicants who have the highest score on the grid of points are invited to apply for the visa in question. Priority is granted to those who first achieved their points score under the subclass they have applied for applicants who have similar scores. Similarly, preference is given to expressions of interest submitted at earlier dates over later ones.
Process 6: Submit your PR application
Within 60 days of getting your ITA, submit your PR application. All the supporting documentation for processing your PR visa has to be included in the submission. They are:
- Personal documents
- Immigration documents
- Work experience documents
Process 7: Get your clearance certificates
Submitting the police and medical clearance certificates is the next step. After a medical test, you must request your medical clearance certificate.
Process 8: Get your visa grant
Having your visa grant is the last step. These are the measures involved in sending your Australia PR Visa application in 2021.
