With the epidemic forcing most of us to stay at home for over two years, job stagnation was a terrible reality for many. However, as circumstances improve in 2022, many people are considering relocating to another country. Which countries are the greatest for international careers? According to a new survey conducted by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and The Network, the ten most attractive countries to relocate to in 2022 are as follows.

The “Decoding Global Talent, Onsite and Virtual” survey, conducted between October and December 2020 of almost 209,000 people in 190 countries, yielded some fascinating findings and highlighted changed attitudes on mobility than were prevalent a few years ago.

According to the survey, the percentage of people ready to pursue an international job has dropped from 28 percent in 2018 to 50 percent in 2020. Those who wanted to migrate abroad for work were predisposed to prefer countries having a track record of effectiveness in coping with the pandemic.

“COVID is a new variable that is making people apprehensive about considering overseas migration,” says Rainer Strack, a senior partner at BCG and co-author of the paper.

Changes in country rankings:

According to the research, the top 10 nations where respondents prefer to relocate for job are as follows:

Countries that fared worse than the previous survey in 2018 or have vanished off the list include the United States, France, Italy, and Spain, which struggled to control the pandemic last year. As a result, countries such as the United States and Germany rated worse in the 2020 study.

Country rankings have shifted.

Countries that can handle the pandemic well have become desirable relocation destinations. Among these are several Asian countries, including Japan, which has risen four places, and Singapore and New Zealand, which are making their debut appearances. Canada’s well-planned pandemic response strategy has helped it leap to the top of the list, ahead of the United States, making it the number one location to relocate for work.

According to a BCG survey, Canada has surpassed America as the world’s favourite workplace.

Availability to relocate

The study also found that approximately 50% of respondents were eager to relocate, a decrease from 63 percent in the previous survey in 2014. This tendency was ascribed to travel limitations caused by the epidemic and the widespread usage of remote working, which allowed employees to work for a foreign corporation without relocating.
